About Us
The Central Instrumentation Facility (CIF) at the Central University of Kerala is a specialized center established to provide state-of-the-art
scientific instrumentation and expert technical support to researchers. As a critical resource for advanced research, CIF enables faculty, students,
and external collaborators to perform high-quality analyses and experimental work across diverse fields including material science, biological sciences,
nanotechnology, and earth system sciences. CIF operates with the objective of offering centralized access to sophisticated equipment, ensuring optimal use of
resources across departments. By bringing together advanced tools and fostering technical knowledge, CIF plays an essential role in enhancing the research
ecosystem of the university. It supports not only the university's research community but also external institutions and industries, creating an environment
that encourages interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation. The facility houses some of the most advanced instruments, including the Field Emission Scanning
Electron Microscope (FE-SEM), which is crucial for high-resolution material analysis, and the Liquid Nitrogen (LN2) Plant, essential for cryogenic applications.
CIF also facilitates the virtual sharing of major equipment across various departments, ensuring that researchers from different disciplines can access the instruments they need.
Through this comprehensive approach, CIF is committed to promoting scientific excellence and enabling research that addresses both academic and real-world challenges.
